How to Join the MPIA
Membership in the MPIA is open to those individuals who are working in the field of private investigation and/or process service. Application for membership in the MPIA must be made in writing on an official membership application that can be downloaded below.
No applicant will be denied membership on the basis of sex, race, religion, or ethnic origin. Information that is provided to the Board of Directors for the MPIA will be kept in the strict confidence and only disclosed to the board, with membership approval being decided on a case by case basis.
In the event that your membership application is denied, you will be notified as to the reasons for that decision and your initial membership payment will be returned to you, less 15% for processing.

| I paid my dues already , but my name is not shown on the member's directory. Why is that? |

Our organization has under gone some major changes in a short period of time, and while volunteers do their best, we realize that its entirely possible that you may have paid and our records don't reflect that. We can correct that immediately if you will bring this to our attention and offer us evidence that you are a paid member. Rest assured that we're working very hard to put in place a system to make sure that no one is left out in the future.

| What happened to my membership on the old yahoo group. It's not there now! |

The two groups that were previously being used by the MPIA for communication with the members actually belonged to an individual that decided to resign from the MPIA, and in doing so, deleted the private group and took control over the former public group. We have initiated two new yahoo groups, one for public use and the other for members only to exchange ideas as before. We invite anyone to join the public group and members will be subscribed to the private group as we move forward.

| IF I JOIN NOW, WHEN WILL MY DUES NEED TO BE PAID AGAIN |

Previously, all dues were to be paid in January, but we realize that this could be considered unfair to someone joining mid year, so we are making a change to establish that your membership is good for 12 months from the date you join. On the Member's directory, your expiration date is shown there and if you do not renew your dues prior to that date, you will be automatically removed from the membership directory.

| I LIVE IN ANOTHER STATE. CAN I JOIN THE MPIA? |

Our Association is open to membership from other states based upon Associate Membership, whereby you will be listed on our Member's directory but will not be a voting member. We are developing the procedures for Associate membership now...so check back for more details later.

| CAN I PAY FOR MY DUES ONLINE? |

Not right now, but this is something that we are going to be working toward. We hope to offer online payments and much more in the near future. Currently, we can only accept mailed payments either check or money order.
